Nothing can separate you from your Savior. These are the most comforting words when your faith is weak, when you are suffering, sick, or singled out for persecution. Paul the Apostle wants to drive home the point that no matter what you go through as a Christian, nothing can drive a wedge between you and Christ's love.
In the depths of struggle and affliction we are "more than conquerors." It is liberating to know that suffering, persecution, tragedy or trouble doesn't jeopardize our relationship with God. In fact, all things work together for good for those who love God (8:28). This would be really twisted, if not for our hope of eternity. Christians think suffering is cool?? Only to the degree it fixes our minds on the next life and makes us fit for heaven.
This should be our inspiration for enduring hardship in this life--even down to people's scorn, disrespect, and cutting us off on the freeway.
