Imagine you just landed your dream job.  Upon sitting down to discuss your salary package, the company not only shows you your current salary and benefits, but everything you will ever make and all the benefits you will accrue--including your fully-funded retirement package.  With one glance you can see that you will be very well taken care of.

And it's all guaranteed.  The company has seen to every detail of your career with them.

That is a really crude analogy for how carefully and fully God has orchestrated the believer's salvation, from eternity past to eternity future.  If God set his love on you before he created the world, then you will most certainly end up in eternity with him.  It is God's way of assuring Christians that they are his kids.

Paul penned these words in Romans 8 for our encouragement in the face of suffering, tumult, confusion, weakness, despair and doubt.  All things work together for our good.  God detailed out our eternal life before he uttered the first word of creation in Genesis 1!
