In one of his most incredible statements the Apostle Paul says that all the suffering he went through (and it was a lot, see 2 Corinthians 11) wasn't worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed to us! Imagine the worst suffering you've seen or experienced. Paul says it's nothing compared to the awesomeness of heaven, when God makes all things right again.
This message helps us get perspective on injury, illness, insult, and interpersonal pain. This life is full of pain for some. It is bitter-sweet at best. And if this life is all we have, there is no making sense of suffering; it is pointless and random. But if the New Testament is right, then suffering actually produces something good in the Christian and helps prepare us for eternity (See also 2 Corinthians 4:17).
