Romans 5:12-21: the Reign of Grace

Adam brought sin raging into the world through his rebellion.  Death followed with it.  Then more sin and more death.  In the process, the human race was lost.  But Jesus came and undid what Adam did.  Romans 5:12-21 sets up a contrast between Adam and Jesus--even calling Adam a "type" or pattern or prefiguring of Jesus.  What Adam messed up, Jesus fixed up.  What was lost in Adam was regained in Christ.

The chapter is all about life and the reign of grace in the life of the Christian.  The Apostle Paul is laying the groundwork for the Christian life.
