This section of Romans shows God's shift in focus from Israel to the world. He begins to indict Israel for not listening, not submitting to salvation through the Messiah Jesus. Israel tried to establish their own righteousness. This stands as a warning to believers today because we have the same tendencies.
It is easier to sacrifice than obey. It is easier to go to church once a week and tell yourself that's good enough, or to give to the poor, or any other number of things, rather than give your life to Jesus.
