Interviews with the Elders

Membership at Anchor is for those who are believers in Jesus Christ, have been baptized, and have been a part of Anchor long enough to be involved in Sunday worship and a community group (or equivalent).
Anchor's membership process involves participating in Mission Classes 1 and 2 (offered yearly), completing the questions from the classes and turning them in, meeting with the elders for a brief interview, agreeing to the membership covenant, and finally being presented to the congregation and being prayed for.
Membership is a way of saying we are dedicated to this particular body of believers, that we identify with it, and seek to represent Christ and Anchor in our city and around the world.
What's the Purpose of the Interview with the Elders? It is usually just a brief interview to assure both the leadership of Anchor and the prospective member that we are on the same page theologically and practically. By welcoming someone as a member of Anchor, we are placing a lot of stock in that person. We are saying that we are partners in the gospel, and fellow ambassadors of Jesus and of this particular congregation. It is therefore vital that we are in unity about the Faith and how we as a church live it out.
